Connecting to Stream Flow

The limited water supply of the Rocky Mountain West affects all walks of life and offers an authentic and engaging data source for independent and group research projects. Explore connecting your students to climate science, snowpack, streamflow, and their water supply via investigations into stream flow. Gain confidence guiding your students in developing authentic place-based investigative questions. Get hands-on experience accessing, analyzing data sets easily available online. We conduct our own mini-investigations using data specific to your watershed and practice using the Google Classroom tools to analyze and share research. This workshop will also provide information on how these methods satisfy and align with the Montana state science standards, STEM Practices, and 21st Century Learning Profiles.
